The student leaves the room without permission and refuses to come back to class. This a kindergarten student. This happens when he gets upset, more often in the afternoon. When this first started happening I talked with him and redirected him to the thought spot and encouraged him to go there to calm down instead. He tried the thought spot a few times, then went back to leaving the room. Once he leaves, he still tries to get the attention of the students in the room by opening and closing the door, talking loudly, or waving through the window.
I have a student who does this as well. We started a behavior book for him. He can earn a reward after every class. He chose certain rewards that he wants to achieve; Computer time, Lego, games.... We are going to try this for a couple of weeks and then cut down on rewards. (every other class)
