The student may:
- Make self defeating comments

- Frequently diminish achievements, accomplishments, and other positive things
- Minimize the successes of others
- Refuse to participate and take part in activities and discussions
- Be non-compliant
- Argue and bicker
- Challenge others’ ideas and opinions
- Be dismissive
- Never have anything nice or productive to say
- Always find fault in everything
- Pessimism
- Always think of the worst that will or could happen
- Fatalistic
- Sour demeanor
- Say they don’t care, don’t want to do something, or hate things
- Have a look of dissatisfaction
- Talk back
- Show frequent anger
